How we got there:

Consumer truth: I.T. is a scary place for both small and midsize businesses. If your I.T. goes down, so does your business. 

Category insight: I.T. people can be impersonal, condescending and unresponsive. 

Opportunity: We’re the company that is knowledgeable about I.T. — and we know that it’s the people, having the I.T. difficulties, who really need to be supported. 

 
 

Our characters voice/personality:

The Purple characters know their way around the scary world, but they’re far from scary. They’re always smart and confident, yet approachable and unassuming. The Purple Guys are never condescending and always engage their audience with a smile.

how we got there:

Consumer truth: Cider is thought of as a “fluffy” off-shoot of beer. It’s seen as something you only drink when you need a change of pace, if at all. 

Category insight: Cider needs a makeover… Beer is what guys drink. Wine is what one might drink ‘with the girls’ and with dinner. People don’t really give much mind-space to cider.

Opportunity: Cider usually has a higher alcohol content and has more of a “bite” than beer. Leveraging this strength gives cider the point of difference it needs. 

OUR CHARACTERS VOICE/PERSONALITY:

Our character represents a stubborn, dogged determination. Instead of fluffy, he’s strong and has an attitude that says “my bite is worse than my bark.” Why the antique imagery? We believe it adds grit. If people think cider’s a ‘mom drink,’ we wanted THAT mom to seem like the one who would run a speakeasy.

How We Got There:

Consumer Truth: The Category of CBD is not only overrun by product offerings and the average consumer doesn’t know enough about CBD to actually choose one. All they know is CBD does something, but they’re not sure what and they don’t know who to ask.

Category Insight: Like any new category, the CBD market is in its ‘rush to shelf’ phase, where just being a CBD is enough to drive interest in a product.

The Opportunity: We can give the brand a longer term positioning that allows the it enough room to grow beyond its ingredients. Like any category, once consumers understand a category offering, they gravitate towards brands with well a positioned point of view.

Our Character/ Voice and Personality:

Since the product’s target is athletes who enjoy strenuous activities, we wanted to create a character that felt as though he had done the same activities that our users were doing. By taking this approach, we have a built in ‘field tested’ vibe as well as a ‘created out of necessity’ perception to the brand.

Why a shaman? A shaman’s a medicine man/sage that inspires and leads his or her tribe. Perfect, considering that’s what we’re expecting to do for the category.

how we got there:

Consumer truth: Cannabis is big business, and to compete at the highest level, you must be connected with the very best in the industry.   

Category insight: Cannabis suppliers typically keep a low profile because the category still suffers from the stigma associated with it. In fact, most companies try to blend in with the crowd.

Opportunity: We embrace the idea of cannabis being a legitimate business – one deserving of a little swagger and a smile. After all, when you have the category by the horns, you can have a bit of an attitude.

OUR CHARACTERS VOICE/PERSONALITY:

Our character is filthy rich, and Roastar packaging is why. He has a yacht, a plane and of course - a lot of attitude. He brags about being upper-crust, and Roastar packaging makes his product look upper-class too.
